Humic Acid for Crops

Humic Acid for Crops refers to macromolecular organic active substances extracted from natural raw materials such as peat, lignite, and weathered coal, or transformed from plant residues. It is used as a fertilizer additive or soil conditioner to improve crop growth, fertilizer efficiency, and stress resistance.

The applications of Humic Acid for Crops include improving soil structure, increasing fertilizer utilization, stimulating root growth, enhancing stress resistance (drought/cold/salt-alkali resistance), and improving the quality of agricultural products. It is applied through mineral or biochemical sources via basal fertilizer, fertigation, drip irrigation, and foliar spraying.

The effects of Humic Acid for Crops:

1. Fertilizer Enhancement: Humic Acid for Crops utilizes high cation exchange capacity to adsorb ammonium ions, reducing nitrogen loss, chelate phosphorus and potassium to reduce fixation and leaching, increasing the utilization rate of slow-release nitrogen fertilizer by 20%-30%, and activating fixed phosphorus.

2. Soil Improvement: Humic Acid for Crops acts as a colloidal binder, promoting soil aggregate formation, increasing soil porosity and water-holding capacity (water absorption rate reaches 500%-600%), regulating pH and buffering acidity and alkalinity, and its dark color can increase soil temperature.

3. Root and Seedling Growth Promotion: Humic Acid for Crops contains auxin-like active groups, stimulating taproot elongation and lateral root proliferation (lateral root number can increase by more than 150%), activating H+-ATPase gene expression, and enhancing root water and nutrient absorption capacity.

4. Stress Resistance Regulation: Humic Acid for Crops induces antioxidant enzyme (SOD, POD) activity, reduces membrane lipid peroxidation, and foliar spraying can close some stomata to reduce transpiration, significantly improving crop tolerance to drought, high temperature, low temperature, and salt stress.

5. Quality Improvement: Humic Acid for Crops promotes the accumulation of photosynthetic products, reduces nitrate content in fruits and vegetables, increases sugar content, vitamin C, and color uniformity, and reduces disease incidence.

Application Methods of Humic Acid for Crops:

1. Base Fertilizer/Basal Fertilizer: Primarily used for field crops (corn, wheat, rice). Apply 50-100 kg per acre using humic acid compound fertilizer or granules in furrows/holes. It provides long-lasting soil improvement and fertilization.

2. Fertigation/Drip Irrigation: Suitable for vegetables and fruit trees. Use highly water-soluble potassium humate or potassium fulvate. Apply 1-3 kg per acre with irrigation water from the seedling stage to the fruit enlargement stage for rapid root promotion and improved efficiency.

3. Foliar Spray: For drought, high temperature, pesticide damage repair, or nutrient deficiency chlorosis, use humic acid or chelated micronutrient fertilizer, diluted 500-800 times (concentration 0.05%-0.1%), avoiding midday heat, and spray once every 7-10 days.

4. Seed Soaking and Root Dipping: Treat seeds or roots with a low-concentration sodium/potassium humate solution to promote early germination and seedling emergence, and improve transplant survival rate.

Precautions for Humic Acid for Crops:

1. Concentration Control: Foliar spraying must not exceed 0.1%, and fertigation should not exceed 3 kg per acre per single application (half the amount during the seedling stage). High concentrations will damage cell membranes, leading to root burn and seedling rot.

2. Incompatibility: Do not mix with alkaline substances (such as wood ash or lime), otherwise it will be ineffective; it can be mixed with neutral/acidic pesticides and fertilizers, but must be prepared and used immediately.

3. Applicable differences: Compound fertilizers are selected for field crops that focus on soil improvement and efficiency enhancement; water-soluble humic acid is selected for high-value cash crops that focus on fast-acting and stress resistance; nitrohumic acid is highly acidic and its dosage needs to be strictly controlled to prevent soil acidification.
